In another very welcome initiative to bring Formula 1 fans closer to the action, F1’s new owners Liberty Media are bringing all the F1 teams and their cars to Trafalgar Square in London for “F1 Live London”.
With thousands of fans expected, Formula 1 cars are set to drive and burn some rubber in and around the streets of London’s famous Trafalgar Square.
There shall be music, appearances from loads of F1 racing drivers, legends, celebrity guests, as well as a moving display of show cars from Whitehall to Trafalgar Square and back again.
The event shall take place between 5:30 – 9:30 PM BST. It will also be live streamed from 6 PM BST on www.f1.com/F1live, youtube.com/formula1, and on the Sky F1 channel.
Last time this happened was in 2004 in an event around London’s Regent Street which attracted close to half a million spectators.
“F1 Live London is the most striking example yet of F1’s evolution this year”, said F1’s MD Sean Bratches. “We feel there is no better way to celebrate the exciting season we have had so far than to have this landmark event in London on the eve of the British Grand Prix. This is all about giving our fans the opportunity to get closer to the teams, cars, and the drivers they love.”
Sadiq Khan, the Mayor of London commented : “F1 Live London is a brilliant opportunity to show young people in our city that learning about science and engineering can provide them with fantastic careers and can be great fun.
“It will also bring fans of all ages and backgrounds together to celebrate a sport they are passionate about and in which Britain is a world leader.”
