Rumours of a new Chinese F1 Team have been going around the F1 community for a while now. What’s this all about?
Yesterday, an update has popped up on Britain’s Companies House register that disclosed the fact that a company by the name of Bronze Fortune Limited has just renamed itself to China F1 Racing Team Limited.
“There are always rumours, but we have had some interest from some teams”, said FIA President Jean Todt at the FIA Sport Conference in Geneva.
When pressed, Todt expanded upon this matter saying that a tender shall be called only when there were very serious candidates available.

“When we feel it is time, we will be able to make a tender”, said Todt. “At the moment we have 10 teams and the idea is to have up to 12 teams. So we have an opportunity, if we have one or two strong newcomers, it would be possible.
“If it’s a big manufacturer, it’s easy. If it’s a privateer, you need to be more careful. And then, once you are sure that there is a real interest, and once you’re sure that people are able, like it was the case with Haas, for example, then we make tender.”
For now, we do know that Bronze Fortune Limited is run by a French lawyer named Micheal Orts and he has competed in sports car racing in America and Europe.
But why has he renamed his company China F1 Racing Team Limited? What are his plans? Have former Manor employees been approached?
He’s been unavailable for comment, but we’ll have to wait and see how this unfolds.
