Le Mans 24 h : The Porsche Mechanics Who Won It

Ecstatic after having completed an unexpected comeback to stand on the top step and win the 24 hours of Le Mans, the #2 Porsche LMP1 car drivers Timo Bernhard, Brendon Hartley, and Earl Bamber did not forget to thank their Porsche mechanics for playing a massive part in the team’s victory.

After having retired to the garage with a faulty front axle motor in the 4th hour of the 24 hour race, the Porsche mechanics worked tirelessly to put the #2 car out back on track to chase down the very special Le Mans victory.

“They worked their arses off to get the car back out there”, said first time Le Mans winner Brendon Hartley. “If it had taken five minutes more, the win wouldn’t have happened. There’s not a scratch on that car too!”.

Timo Bernhard joined in the praise as he gave his post-race comments.

“It can be the cruellest race or the best race ever”, said Bernhard. “Yesterday after four hours, it looked bad but the guys were so quick to repair the car, they really speeded it up. At the end you saw every lap counted, every second mattered to get back to P1.

“You can never foresee what’s going to happen, so in the end the spirit of Le Mans is flat-out racing. It was our only chance.”
